The VIB Agro-Incubator is a plant science and agricultural technology incubator at the former site of CropDesign (BASF). The site has been fully modernized by VIB with the support of the Flemish government, in consultation with ILVO, Flanders Research Institute for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food. It houses now a very large, automated phenotyping facility, four lab units, a test field of two hectares and a robotic sprayer allowing to test the plant response to crop protection agents, biologicals, and biostimulants. We are in close collaboration with the VIB-UGent center for Plant Systems Biology and are part of the distributed plant phenotyping infrastructure EMPHASIS where we take the lead in establishing the central hub.
